Online speech pathology and literacy support for neurodivergent children and young people

Reading and writing are about more than schoolwork. They are forms of communication, allowing us to understand information, express what we know and participate in everyday life.

I work with children and young people who are autistic, ADHD, dyslexic or otherwise neurodivergent, including those who find reading, spelling, written expression, language or communication difficult, helping them to communicate in the most effective way for them.

My approach to speech pathology starts by looking at the individual child and working out what is getting in the way for that young person. That might be decoding or spelling, but it might also be finding the words they want, organising their ideas, understanding complex language, getting started, holding information in their mind, or managing the many demands of a task.

I am neurodivergent myself, and any support I provide is neurodiversity-affirming and tailored to the individual. I don’t believe in teaching children to communicate or learn in a more neurotypical way. My aim is always to help them develop the skills, strategies and supports they need to feel comfortable in their environments, communicate effectively and participate more independently.

Services

  • Online speech pathology for neurodivergent children and young people, particularly around language, literacy, written communication and functional communication.
    Private, NDIS self-managed and plan-managed

  • Literacy support using the Sounds Write program for children and young people who need help with reading, spelling and writing.

    Private paying clients only

  • Understanding communication needs, self-advocacy, communicating needs to others and strategies to help with communication.

NDIS participants

I can work with self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants where speech pathology support is appropriate to the participant's disability-related communication needs and goals, where reading and writing form part of a participant's functional communication and participation needs.

Tutoring services are not able to be accessed with NDIS funding.

About The Woven Way

The Woven Way is lead by Alice Greenwood, a speech pathologist, educator and literacy tutor with a particular interest in neurodivergent communication and learning.

My background across speech pathology and education means I can look at both the communication skills underlying a difficulty and the practical demands a young person is facing at school and in everyday life.

Sessions are currently available online.
